What are essential oils, and why are they so important?
Essential oils are liquids that come from distilled or pressed plants. As you can imagine, it takes a lot of plant material to be able to extract this precious liquid. Essential oils have the ability to powerfully influence our physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being. They are complex in their chemical make-up, being made up of hundreds of different chemical compounds. They are highly concentrated and are more potent than dried herbs. The oils are the most powerful part of the plant.
Essential oils have been used medicinally to kill bacteria, fungi, and viruses. Their fragrance can balance moods, lift spirits, release pent up negative emotions, and even create a romantic atmosphere. They can stimulate the healing of tissues and stimulate nerves. They even can oxygenate and carry nutrients into the cells.
The natural ability of essential oils to act on both mind and body is what makes them unique among therapeutic agents. I encourage you to take advantage of the healing properties of essential oils during your Bowen or Massage session. Please let me know if you would like to incorporate the oils into your session.
April Sunshine Healing uses therapeutic grade essential oils from Young Living, DoTerra and Rocky Mountain.
Since the US does not have standards or certifications for therapuetic grade oils, few companies in the US use the proper instruments and methods to suitably analyze essential oils for purity and therapeutic quality. It is vital that you do your research before choosing which company to purchase oils from to ensure you are not getting adulterated oils.
